Healthy and Energy-Boosting Snacks – When and How Much?

One of the many reasons why people nowadays seem to be having no energy to keep moving forward and so they resort to eating unhealthy is the lack of time. From the first hour of the morning until late in the night, there is always something to do. And, of course, the time allocated to replenishing your energy sources can barely be found.

So whether it is a sandwich or something else that can be prepared hastily, people tend to forget that their bodies, just like anything in this world, needs to be sustained in a proper manner.

If you want to lead a healthy life, this is the first thing you need to do, no matter how busy a schedule you may have: eat regularly throughout the day and never skip a meal. The predictability of the eating times will help your organism make the most of anything it consumes. So even if it is just an apple between meals, your body will have learned how to use that apple’s energy in the most efficient way.

Don’t skip breakfast, lunch and dinner – even more importantly, it would be tenfold better if you maintained the same meal schedule, for your body to learn it. In this way, you won’t have to eat high-energy meals and snacks (which are, usually, low on nutrients, because they are just rich in calories and that’s all) just to compensate the lack of a program.

But you also need to help your organism when it comes to transforming these nutrients into energy. You have to help your organism in other ways than just by maintaining a schedule. And you probably heard that it is recommended to drink about 2 liters of water daily. But how many of us do that? Water is essential because it helps especially the liver, who is responsible with removing the toxins from your body. So you need to help him by drinking at least 2 liters of filtered water on a daily basis – and don’t worry, if you can respect a meal schedule, you can also get used to drinking this amount of water.

And lastly you need to have healthy snacks between the meals. Depending on your daily schedule, 3 meals a day might not do. So what can you consume in order to help your body and give it more healthy nutrient-based energy? It’s easy – fruits and cereal! They are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins and they will provide your body with the necessary boost.

Fresh bananas and apples, almonds and nuts, hummus and vegetables (carrots, red peppers, celery), and basically anything that is all natural. Leave aside the products that aren’t whole if you can. Leave aside the sugar-based products, like the various types of diet yoghurt. Go just for the natural and fresh products.

And, of course, these snack foods should be just that – snacks between meals and not actual meals. Half a cup of nuts, or an apple, or a quarter cup of hummus, or even half a cup of whole yoghurt should do you fine. These snacks will rev your body up and provide you with healthy energy.
